Another winter, reason excuse to get outdoors! There are so many ways to enjoy the weather here in and around Regina. Take advantage of the cold climate to enjoy some winter activities before the snow melts. Cross country or downhill skiing, tobogganing, snowboarding, and tubing are a great way to get exercise, get into nature, and stay warm while you’re outside. There’s nothing better than a warm drink and cozy heating when it follows a day out in the snow!

Cross-Country Skiing

White Butte Trails and Recreation Site offers ten trails for cross-country skiing, with a mix of beginner and intermediate options. The trails are free to use and are regularly maintained to be at optimal conditions. There are options for skate style skiing and classic style on various trails. It’s located around a quick 20-minute drive from Regina, and has two parking lots if you choose to drive. If you want to visit here without skiing, there is a separate trail for walking and snowshoeing on the premises. Wascana Trails also have 10 km of cross-country skiing, so there are plenty of different places around Regina.

Slide into some classic winter fun by tobogganing at one of the hills around Regina! You don’t need any skills or practice: just a toboggan and some winter gear. Check out Walker School Hill, Schweitzer Park Hill, Ruth M Buck Hills, French Park Hill, or the classic Mount Pleasant Hills which have light poles if you’d like to toboggan at night. Tobogganing is fun for kids and adults alike, so go alone or grab a second toboggan and have a toboggan race with your family!

Snowboarding & Downhill Skiing

Head over to Mission Ridge Park from some snowboarding or skiing, located only about 45 mins from Regina. There are 14 trails ranging from beginner to double black diamond, making it perfect for skiers or snowboarders of every level. Lessons are still available in your small bubbles. Skiing and snowboarding are not the only things available, there’s also a tubing park on site. Make sure you buy all your passes in advance online!
